Our Vision

Our Vision

A Key Event in 2011

In November 2011, 57 members of QBC went to Changi Beach Club to prayerfully seek God’s vision and direction for the church. During that retreat of 3 days, God gave us a vision of what we can become. The vision statement was born and was officially adopted as the Church’s strategic direction by 2012 January. In order to help us appreciate the extent of the vision, a new logo and slogan was adopted at the same time (see below).

Our Vision

“To become :
- A Spirit filled and fervently praying church family
- Raising generations of disciples and servant leaders
- Impacting our community and beyond for Christ.”

`Spirit Filled´

We aim to be a Spirit filled (Ephesians 5:18) church that is anchored in the word. We will

- Live a regularly examined and confessional corporate life in order not to "Grieve The Holy Spirit". (Ephesians 4:30)
- Surrender our individual and corporate will to the Lordship of Christ in order not to "Quench The Holy Spirit". (1 Thessalonians 5:19)
- "Walk In The Spirit" by being dependent on Christ through the empowerment of His Word and a vibrant prayer life. (Galatians 5:16)
- Manifest "The Fruit Of The Spirit" by being empowered by the Spirit to proclaim and live out the Word. (Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 3:16)

`Fervently Praying´

We are created to communicate with God but our sinful self resists prayer.
Fervently praying is one of the sure signs of a spirit filled life.

Fervently praying means these 5 " P "s.

- Priority: We believe prayer is a high calling and thus we will make prayer the highest "priority" of our corporate times together (Matthew 26:40-41).

- Posture: We believe we cannot do anything on our own. Prayer is a manifestation of our dependence on God and thus must be approached with an attitude of "humility" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

- Power: We believe that praying in faith that is in accordance with His Will/word can move mountains. Because God is "powerful" we have the duty to intercede for the community and the world (Matthew 17:20).

- Purpose: We believe that prayer is to ultimately bring honor and "glory to God"and build intimacy to our relationship with Him (Matthew 6:9).

- Practice: We seek "balance" in our prayer life. Therefore, we will not only speakbut also listen to God's voice; We will meditate as well as intercede; give thanks as well as confess our sins (Matthew 6:9-15). Towards that end, we practice “word based prayer” – we learn to pray from the word of God.

`Raising generations of disciples / servant leaders´

We seek to be true to the Great Commission and present each member as an obedient disciple of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19), filled with the spirit and anchored in the word.

The biblical pattern - Moses and Joshua, Paul and Timothy - teach us that faithfulness to God's Great Commission means that we need to pass the baton from one generation to another (2 Timothy 2:2).

Towards that end, one of our key focus is to raise up successive generations of "servant leaders" from different cultural backgrounds to lead our church to fulfill her part in the Great Commission.

"Servant leaders" are leaders who lead by example, exhibit the "mind" of Christ (Philip 2:3-8) and seek to serve rather than be served.

`Impact for Christ´

"Impact" describes our earnest desire to faithfully bear fruits for Jesus Christ (John 15:5: Proverbs 11:30) through:
Loving and caring for our community through acts of service (1 Thessalonians 2:8) and sharing the Gospel ( Romans 1:14-16).
Abiding in our Lord Jesus Christ through a spirit filled life (John 15).

`Our community and beyond´

We seek to build a family-oriented, closely-knit, Christ centered church, while mobilizing our members to impact our community and beyond.

- Community: Our community includes families and singles in the Queenstown area. We seek to understand their needs and serve them lovingly.

- Beyond: We will also serve others whom God has placed in our hearts including people beyond the Queenstown area as well as beyond Singapore.

Our Slogan

Our slogan is our battle cry and represents a condensed form of our vision.

“Transforming lives; Impacting communities”.

Our Logo

Our logo is a symbol that tells the story of our vision. When you click your pointer over different parts of the logo, a fuller explanation will appear.

The upper vertical bars represent “hands of prayer reaching the heavens”.

The horizontal bars represent “hands that embrace the community”.

The lower vertical bars represent “feet that run towards the community”.

The 2 colors represent the emerging hope of the next generation – green emerging from the blue.
